A company in Northern Ireland by the name of Whale demonstrates how they managed to reduce R&D and lead times by using 3D printing technology, and in paticular by 3D printing molds for injection molding. Despite some initial skepticism, Whale soon realized that 3D printing technology could offer them easier, cheaper, and faster solutions than they were currently using to procure their products. The video below contains a live demonstration of 3D printed molds being used for injection molding, and although the video is in German, the demonstration is no less impressive.
