A team of Japanese researchers have unveiled a 3D printed replica kidney that will aid in the training for a specific type of surgery related to cancer tumours in the kidney. Using a 3D scanner to scan a patients organ then printing it out using a Stratasys Objet Connex printer the researchers will able to replicate the kidney with a tumour. This is a revolutionary step and very important as well due to the fact that the surgery is long and requires high levels of skill. The more time surgeouns have to practice their skills, the less likely mistakes will be made during the actual surgery. This opens doors for all sorts of organs and other body parts to be replicated with 3D printers for surgeouns to hone their skills on.
